Comments and insights on the name Eavan: | Edit

When we found this name Eavan we were told it is a traditional Gaelic name pronounced like the American boys name "Evan". It means "Fair One"

Actually, I disagree with the previous poster. Traditionally, Eavan is pronounced "AY-ven" (like "raven" or "haven").

The traditional Irish way of pronouncing this name is "EE-van" like Steven. However, people pronounce it like the boys name Evan and as above Ay-ven. We choose to pronounce it AY-ven. I think all are perfectly fine. However, everyone when reading the name always first pronounces it like Evan.

Personal experiences with the name Eavan: | Edit

It was easy for Eavan to learn how to spell her name and I like the symmetry of the name, it feels very balanced.
My name is eavan and growing up no one ever says your name right, it's usually pronounced even, euan, eevan or sometimes scan it gets quite annoying having to pronounce your name 24/7 especially at the start of the school year with new teachers
