It seems as though people have troubles figuring out how to correctly pronounce this name.
But in my experience with this being my daughter's name, its less people that can't figure it out, and more than are able to.
Also I think over all people are generally stupid, and you will have those who have troubles with the simplest and most well known of names/spelling for a name.

Personal experiences with the name Elaina: | Edit

We chose Elaina as our first daughter's name. I loved the name as soon as I had first read it. Our daughter is an outrageously bright 2 year old, and I couldn't think of a more fitting name for her. She seems to love it. People who hear her name (or read it correctly) comment on how pretty it is.
We chose it for how beautiful it sounds, especially having a last name that is a little on the brute sounding end of things. And because I happen to be dyslexic and looked up what I THOUGHT was the meaning for this name, but it turned out to be Eliana. Ooops. And I loved that meaning. So, we decided between the 2 names and I am glad we stuck with Elaina. Its such a beautiful name, and I love that there is quite a few options for nicknames. :)

*Also, if it is any matter to anyone, I work with a girl who's middle name is Elena, she is from Ecuador, she is smart, and sweet, and beautiful. Just a very wonderful person.

it does seem as though people have troubles at times figuring out how to pronounce this name when they read it, but people tend to be stupid though. My name is Elizabeth and often times people struggle with that name!
I wouldn't stray away from a name because of other people. if you love the name, then it's the right name for you to use.
