Personal experiences with the name Elise: | Edit

Most common reactions when I introduce myself: (1) "that a pretty name" or (2) tell me about any other Elise's they know/future plans to use the name (this one gets pretty old--there is nothing I can do with that information)

Most commonly misread as "Elsie", occasionally it's read correctly the first time.

Has a shortage of nicknames, so the one time I did have another girl in the class with the same name, we had to go by first and last names rather than by any nicknames because neither of us had one.

People ask whether it's pronounced "EE"-lise or "Uh"-lise, truly concerned about my feelings, but to be honest, I usually don't even notice.
^^I pronounce it "EL-eese"

When people slur the words "at least" together it sounds just like my name, so I sometimes think people are trying to talk to me when they're not.

Ellie, Lise, Lisa, Els, Eli, Lesee

We call my friend Elise "Cookie" but thats a different story. :)

Elle is a possible nickname for Elise.
