Comments and insights on the name Elliot: | Edit

It's a beautiful unisex name that is equally strong and charming for both girls and boys. It's near the top of my list for either sex. I don't understand the vitriol against using it for girls as well as boys. In the age of Elle, anything that could be shortened to Ellie can be a lovely little girl's name.

Traditional male name that is sometimes given to girls because of the feminine nickname Ellie and the resemblance to girls' names like Harriet.

Male name, used on girls when its not a unisex name, not a good name for a girl.

Personal experiences with the name Elliot: | Edit

My super-girlie daughter is named Elliot and she loves it. We get complements all the time on her name. Yes, i do have to correct people sometimes when making appointments or whatever that she's a girl, but that's not a big deal. She's gone by Ellie & Ella, but has gone back Elliot. She thinks it's fancy. I thought it was sensible, sweet, versatile, and smart sounding. I did choose to go super girlie with her middle name, Seraphina, incase she ended up wanted something strictly feminine, but so far (she's 5.5yrs) she loves her first name.
