Estela is a popular name in South America (where I was born) but rare in North America (where I grew up). Growing up, I hated being different, but now I'm glad to be the only Estela most people know. Most people get the impression that it is a grandma-type name, but it doesn't really bother me.
One thing I don't like about my name is that my family cannot pronounce it (they are from Taiwan), particularly the L. Also, when I was living there, people had a hard time with it.
Also, there is often confusion about how many L's there are in my name (one L in Spanish/Portuguese, two in French/English).
Lastly, Estela is pronounced "esh-te-la" in Portuguese. And in Spanish, I believe the two L's (Estella) make it "es-te-ya."

There is a character in the play "A Streetcar Named Desire" and a famous scene in which the male lead yells out "Stellaaaa." People will do that scene and think they're being clever when you've heard it a million times.
