Estela is a popular name in South America (where I was born) but rare in North America (where I grew up). Growing up, I hated being different, but now I'm glad to be the only Estela most people know. Most people get the impression that it is a grandma-type name, but it doesn't really bother me.
One thing I don't like about my name is that my family cannot pronounce it (they are from Taiwan), particularly the L. Also, when I was living there, people had a hard time with it.
Also, there is often confusion about how many L's there are in my name (one L in Spanish/Portuguese, two in French/English).
One of my best friends is called Estela. She is Spanish and speaks the language but we pronounce it es-tel-a. I imagine Estelas to have dark hair and eyes and tanned skin. She matches all of these but the skin colour as she shares ours. I think the personality for Estela should be charismatic and creative
Lastly, Estela is pronounced "esh-te-la" in Portuguese. And in Spanish, I believe the two L's (Estella) make it "es-te-ya."

There is a character in the play "A Streetcar Named Desire" and a famous scene in which the male lead, Marlon Brando, yells out "Stellaaaa." People will do that scene and think they're being clever when you've heard it a million times.
In a novel by Charles Dickens called Great Expectations, the character Estella Havisham, is one that people remember when they hear my name. It is a classsic.
My name gets associated with Stella Rosa all the time which is fine since I enjoy having a glass of Stella Rosa with friends now and again.
People will also call you Stella Artois. It is so old, and not funny. Not a good chat up line. AT ALL!
