Comments and insights on the name Ever: | Edit

I feel that this name portrays a feeling of constance (forEVER) and balance. It's unusual as a name, which makes it somewhat exotic, but so commonly used that it seems more comfortable to speak it.

I love this name.

Personal experiences with the name Ever: | Edit

I know more and more boys with this name. The name "Ever" is a boys (male) name. Just because it sounds unique and beautiful, does not mean you should name your daughter Ever. Name you daughter and she will be laughed at around Central America (not Mexico) possibly parts of South America. Only and American would change the names sex origin.

Most Common Reaction:
"What an unusual name! That is so beautiful!"
"I will never EVER forget that name."
"Is that short for something?"
"How did your parents come up with that?"

Common Jokes:
"What Ever?"
"forEver and Ever and Ever"
"what Ever were your parents thinking, Ever?"
etc.

Even with the jokes, I love my name and can't imagine being called anything else. It is also a great ice breaker, which makes meeting people super easy.

Meanings and history of the name Ever: | Edit

"Ever" is an old southern spelling of the name "Eva" (not EEva, but Ehvah) Just say it with a really bad southern drawl and you'll get the idea. It could be the Scottish thing too, though I'd never heard that before until Milla Jovovitch, but I know that this is how I got the name Ever. My grandmother's name was Ever ("Ehevah") and she got it legally changed to Eva as an adult because people called her Ever.
Also this is a pretty common name for hispanic boys. They either spell it Ever or Eber, but they pronounce it the same way.

The name "Ever" is a boys name. It is not unisex, though more girls are being named Ever, especially here in America (only Americans would). Though I still know more boys with the name Ever. The Hebrew meaning "beyond", "pass over; the other side". In the Old Testament, Ever was a descendant fo Shem, son of Noah. Please dont name your daughter Ever, its like me being from "Italy" and naming my daughter Brad or something. Please just dont.
