My name is Gabrielle and I'm 25 years old. I HATED my name as a child, being the only Gabrielle in school until college. I began to LOVE my name as I got older, about 20/21...I felt like an adult, with an adult name. Friends call me Gab, Gabri, Gabby, Gabster, Gabiatrice (yeah, they're crazy), and my favorite from my family is Gaby-Baby :)
I'm a high school student. At times i don't like my name because its too long. My last name is long too so most people cant say or spell my full name. Whenever I have a substitute teacher at school he/she pronounces it "Gabriel" and I get laughed at. Haha. But overall i think my names pretty cool, but not the best.
my names Gabrielle and I'm 18 I have never liked my name or my middle name and my 2 older brothers Max and Josh find a way to make fun of me using my name and so does my family. I go by Gabby and have basically my whole life and sometimes people who have known me my whole life or for a while who call me Gabby always Spell it wrong. And a lot of people pronounce my name as Gabriel(like the guys name Gabe). I tend to be talkative so my mom claims she should have named me shhh which i hate when she says that. But a lot of the time growing up with my brothers I get called by my last name a lot but hey you can't choose your name
I have a 9 year old cousin named Gabrielle and we are half french so for me Gabrielle is a french name. I either call her Gab, Gabi or Gabi-Lou
Hello! My name is Gabrielle and I love my name! I'm a follower of Jesus, and in my walk with Him, my name means a lot. "The Lord is My Strength". By myself, I am weak (not even kidding, I'm not a strong person at all) but when I tap into Him, I become strong through His might! When my parents picked out my name, they didn't know what it meant, I did my own research to figure it out. It really lines up with my life and it's a daily reminder that He is my strength, so I don't have to go it alone.
Another interesting fact, I'm mostly french canadian (my mom's first generation American) and my mom didn't like "Gabby" much at all, so she would actually correct people if they called me anything but Gabrielle. Basically, I never had a nickname, well, until last year. I met a bunch of new people in a group and, as usual, my name got shortened to Gabby in a matter of minutes. This time I didn't fight it though, and somehow everyone calls me Gabby now, it's weird, but I like it. So fair warning future parents, nicknames are really hard to fight. I had the unique opportunity to choose it myself, which is pretty cool! Also, from personal experience, it's really hard to get people to call you Elle. Like really hard, just trust me.
Then there's also Gabs. *shudders*. That's where I draw the line. Gabby sounds endearing, but there's just something about Gabs that seems like they just got tired of saying two syllables, and I'm sorry, but Gabs doesn't fly. Well, except with this one friend of mine, but that's just because he does use it endearingly and the way he says it, it just doesn't sound as harsh. For everyone else though, Gabs is a big NO.
Ok, I'm done. Hopefully I've been helpful, probably not. Bottom line is that I LOVE my name and the meaning it gives to my life!
Hi, my names Gabrielle. Im 18 years old and i absolutely adore my name. I didnt start liking my name until around the age 14. As a child i hated it! I wanted a common name like jessica or lindsey. My name was long, unusual, and many people pronounced it "gabriel" and i hated that more than anything! I wouldnt like it when people would call me by my full name, i prefered and went by Gabbie. The annoying thing about having the nickname gabbie, people would spell it "gabby or gaby" and i hated that too. Now that im older, however, im finding the beauty in my name. I love the spelling of "gabbie" i find it to be more unique than "gabby". I also now prefer to be called gabrielle. I feel more mature and the name itself is beautiful!
