My middle name is Georgette. I hated it so much when I was younger I refused to even learn how to spell it unil I was about ten. I think it was because I felt George was such a masculine name. Now I am much older and wish I had embraced it more, and even used it as a nickname, George or GiGi etc.
I wish my mother would've named me Georgette or Georgina. As it was, my grandmother worked as a maid for a wealthy family who was well known in town, and the summer my mother was 16 she worked with my grandmother, and ended up getting pregnant (with me) by the family's son, whose first name was George. However, my mother gave me George's last name for a first name, so everyone would know I was from that family, and gave me no middle name. If she had to name me after him, I wish she had named me a pretty, feminine version of George rather than his last name. People think my name is weird, but I have a nickname that is acceptable.

I named my daughter Georgette when she was born in 1997. I dreamt of the name while I was pregnant with her. In 2001 on my daughters birthday we went to the Jelly Belly Factory in Fairfield CA and just happened to meet another lady with the same name. Obviously Georgette is an uncommon name in the US so it was quite a coincidence. My daughters traits are just as the name is defined: a very grounded, loving, and empathetic person with a strong connection to nature.
