Comments and insights on the name Gilda: | Edit

My name is Gilda. My mother named me after a movie made in the 40's. the name of the movie is "Gilda." The role of "Gilda" was played by the actress Rita Hayworth. The movie was popular and those who remember the movie talked of how good the movie was in their day and I was told that I needed to see this movie. It is a very good movie and my friends have enjoyed watching this movie, even my 9 yr.old granddaughter. I went to school with another girl named Gilda and her mother named her after this movie as well. I have not seen anything with the name already printed on it. The name makes for good conversation. My generation of people say that they love the name because it is so unique. Of course, people want to know where did my mother get the name and then they want to know what the movie is about.

I have never had a nickname. I think the name is too short to shorten any further. The difficulty is people remembering that the name begins with a "G" and not "H."
