Comments and insights on the name Helma: | Edit: I was named Helma Jane after a great aunt who was born around 1915. She, in turned was named for my Great-Great Grandmother's friend.
There was another woman born around the same time as my aunt who was also named for this woman. She later had a restuarant and called it Helma's.
Personal experiences with the name Helma: | Edit: I hate it! My Grandmother wanted me to be named this because her sister Helma Lee was an old maid.... No one can ever say- spell it- I use the initials HJ professionally and my nieces and nephew call me aunt HJ. My family called me the double name and in school as well until my 5th grade teacher insisted I become Helma. I hate my name. but I knid of like being H J.
