One of the most beautiful places on earth is Hanalei, Hawaii (pronounced Hawn-a-lay).
The very popular 1960's song by Peter, Paul, & Mary entitled Puff the Magic Dragon made mention of Hanalei, but in the song it was pronounced Honalei (Hawn-a-lee). This name could be spelled either way. This name does not need to belong to a girl from Hawaii any more than Katherine belongs to an Irish girl. It is extremely unique, very beautiful, and very feminine. Some variations could be Honalea, Hanalea, or Hannalei. Cute nicknames could be Hona, Hana, or Hanna.

This was one of the names that I suggested to my daughter while she was pregnant with my Grandaughter who is mostly Irish by the way. My daughter selected the middle name. I am now the very proud Grandma to Honalei Raelynn (now 5 months old).
