My name is Jessica growing up I only knew one other Jessica and that was my cousin. Know that I am twenty two I hear the name Jessica countless times! My daughters best friends name is Jessica she says there is four Jessicas in her class so its beggining to get used a lot more nowadays!
Jessica is my name and it has worn out. I ask to be called Jess and get called Jessie, i guess Jess is too masculine? I married an Andrew (another over popular 80s name) and now we have a son named Hendrix. We couldn't stand the thought of him being in a class of several other same name children the only difference being the first letter of the last name. I was also a Jessica Do for a couple of years as there was jessica Du and jessica De... that was not fun
Being born in 1987, when the name Jessica was at its peak, you would think that I would have run into hundreds of Jessica's. But I am currently in my 4th year of college and from preschool on, I have only ever been in school with one other Jessica. I love my name, and luckily haven't had any problems with its supposed over popularity! I've never liked the nickname Jessie though.
Though pretty, this name is far too common. Because of this, I prefer people to call me by my middle name to avoid confusion.
My middle name is Jessica and I would much rather it was my first name.
My daughter's name is Jessica and I love her name as much as I did when she was born in 1989. One thing that surprised me was all the different nicknames our family has for her. There is Jessie, Jess and Jessica, and I have caught myself saying all three names in a short conversation with her. I actually liked the name Jessie but named her Jessica as a formality. If I had a boy I was going to name him Jesse.
I have never been the only Jessica anywhere--at work, school, church, there is always at least 1 (and often several) more Jessica(s). I think theoretically it's a pretty name, but in practice I find it annoyingly common.
I love my name and wouldn't change it for anything. Even my husband's exwife is named Jessica.. He just can't get away from us! But I agree it's way too popular and I've always known another Jessica some where.. I get confused for Jennifer's sometimes too, that really annoys me!
My name is Jessyckah pronounced the same way as Jessica. My mother spelt my name this way so i was unique from the rest of the Jessicas.
I think Jessica is such an awesome name. I know a Jessica and she's so cool and really hilarious. I'm really glad that I know her because she makes my life so much less boring and I have so much fun with her. She's fantastical and has a great personality. People are stupid if they don't want to get to know her. I love the name even if it is fairly common.
I'm probably the only one, but I think Jessica is a trashy name, I guess because I new a really mean, obnoxious girl named Jessica for years. She was mean and superficial, and I just hatted her, and I can't hear the name without thinking of her.

From behindthename.com:
This name was first used in this form by Shakespeare in his play 'The Merchant of Venice' (1596), where it belongs to the daughter of Shylock. Shakespeare probably based it on the biblical name ISCAH which would have been spelled Jesca in his time. Popular in the late 1800s, it returned to popularity in the late 1960s.
