I always liked Jesse on a boy, but Jessie on a girl? Not so much. It sounds so incomplete to me. Why not name her Jessica, Jessa, Jessamine etc. and call her Jessie? I'm normally a big fan of naming your kid what you'll actually call him or her (I'd name my baby Jake, Lily or Max instead of Jacob, Lillian or Maxwell) so this is really an exception here.
- Personal experiences with the name Jessie: | Edit
I was named for a male Jesse, but given the feminine spelling. My mother's name is Jean, so I consider myself named after her as well. It really irritates me when people assume my name is Jessica. I really like my name, it is unique enough without being considered outrageous and popular without being too trendy. Good thing I like it, I was going to be a Jesse/Jessie regardless of gender!
My little sister, Jessica Isabelle, is known as Jessie.
