Comments and insights on the name Kaia: | Edit

We named our daughter Kaia after spending a lot of time trying to find the perfect name. We got it from a Greek ghost town in Turkey we visited called KATAKAYA, but the locals just call it KAYA, we changed the spelling because we thought it was more creative. We got lucky on the middle name of Jeanne because my mom, my husbands mother and I, all share the very British middle name. I still love the name!

One of my best friends name is Kaia. She is quiet and suuuper nice :)

Our daughter's name is Kaia Nicole and I still love it. We get lots of compliments on the uniqueness of this name, which is what we were looking for. When I delivered her, the doctor told me that Kaia is also Hindu and means "good creation". At 7, my daughter is the only Kaia in her school and we've only met a few people who know other Kaia's. Gorgeous name!

My name is also Kaia Nicole. I'm successful and awesome, and I wish the same for your daughter. :-)

My daughters name is Kaia Lea Sky Ryder. ~Lea is pronounced Lee. It's the Irish spelling of the name and comes from the infusion of Irish into the family after my great grandmother gave birth ten months after the death of her husband to the child of an Irish auctioneer (although she insisted it was her dead husbands child.) I went with kaia bc it was the only name my boyfriend and I could agree on. He wanted to name our daughter Autumn Sky Ryder and I said over my dead body. It's pretty but it sounds like a stripper name. I considered ancient goddess names but also liked Rain or Juliette bc I wanted to call her Etta. But then I stumbled across Kai which is Navajo for willow tree. I had seen kaya bc of of a video game but didn't want to name her after a video game. So I added an a and went with kaia. It suited her really well although my little Eeyore is also well suited for a name like rain. Her nickname started as kai pie, her cousin Maggie, who is 4 mos older was nicknamed Mag Pie which worked but Kai Pie sounded like cow pie. So it morphed into Kaia Papaya. As a baby her nickname was Mc anything- as in cutey McCuterson or fussy Mcfusserson or milker McMilkerson or nursey Mcnurserson. As you can tell I was an infatuated new mommy and she was a prolific nurser. Most of her baby nicknames revolved around her love of nursing. Kaia is a really good name for being changeable. By adding a middle name that goes well with it you give your daughter a plethora of choices to fit her personality. That was important to me bc I hated my name growing up and changed it when I was 23. So if kaia was more feminine she could be KaiaLea -pronounced Lee-uh. Or if she was more tomboyish she had Kai. Kaia also fits an artistic personality wel. It tuned out her name fits her very well. She's creative, artistic and sensitive. She tends towards moodiness and negativity. She also loves animals (even though she seems to be allergic to most of them)-she never played with dolls instead playing with stuffed animals and plastic animal figurines-her Schlieichs. She has an incredible bond with her standard poodle and her poodle bishon frise mix. She likes being outside and climbing trees but also loves video games. Everyone agrees that kaia fits her well.

Kaia in song, story & screen: | Edit

After naming my daughter Kaia I found out that a song that I loathed was sung by an artist Khia-pronounced Ki-uh. I hated that song and a friend used to sing it all the time. If you don't know the song it's the "My neck, my back, my ______ & my _____", song. It's just horrible. I'm no prude but it's just so classless. If I had known I wouldn't have named my daughter Kaia. So I'm glad I didn't know because it's suits her well.
