I know Kana as a boy's name especially from Hawaii. I'm not sure if it is a shortened version of a longer name which is comon there. Most of the Kana's I have met have been rather big guys! That is kind of funny considering there is a well known Japanese Kana who is a tiny pop singer who has a good deal of popularity i'm told.
