Personal experiences with the name Kandi: | Edit

This is my name. I've never felt it suited me and complained to my parents that they gave me a stripper name. I got a lot of suggestive teasing from boys in school over my name. As I got older, I would avoid telling new people my name if I could until they had a chance to talk to me and realize that I wasn't dumb or loose. On the upside, I feel like it inspired me to work harder to counteract the image of my name. I considered changing it in college so that it wouldn't have a negative impact on my career, but didn't and it hasn't been a problem. I still can't recommend naming a baby Kandi though. Candace is lovely and Andi would be a cute nickname that wouldn't carry the same negative connotations as Candy or Kandi.
