Many people assume by my name that I will be Japanese or African-American. It is disconcerting to see advertisements for "Kashi Go Lean" or "Puffed Kashi" cereal. No one in elementary school was ever able to think of a mean nickname to go with "Kashi". I always stand out at job interviews.
- Personal experiences with the name Kashi: | Edit
I was conceived in Benares so my American and British parents decided to name me after that city. Although as a young child I longed to be name Cindy, I later realized that my teachers and eventually employers always remembered me because of my unusual name. I have never told anyone my name with out a conversation about it. In the 1980s, a cereal with the name of Kashi Cereal was marketed, and eventually became very popular. I ususally have to jokingly tell people that I was invented first. For most of my life I was the only Kashi I new, but I have since found others on Facebook and MySpace.
