Seems to have been a fairly unique name growing up. No teasing nicknames, just Kat or Trina for me. Often misspelled until the hurricane. I didn't like being different as a kid, but have come to appreciate my name as an adult.
I had alot of bullying during the time of hurricane katrina, and thats not good, aswell if your looking for a nice middle name Katrina Rose has a cool ring to it.
- Personal experiences with the name Katrina: | Edit
As a youngster, I liked the name Katrina. It was different and a real treat to find someone else with my name even if it was a different spelling. When I turned 18, I decided that Kat felt a little more "grown-up". Of course, ever since the hurricane, when I introduce myself I say, "Katrina ... just like the hurricane". As its been a few years though, I'm finding that's not really necessary. The comments are fewer and fewer and I find that many people don't associate the name with a bad disaster anymore.
And inevitably at Starbucks, every barista spells it "Catrina" ... which is just fine for me. I like being unique.
I have personally come to the conclusion that Katrina's have a high possibility of being crazy. I have known 3 and they have all been crazy.

Katrina Van Tassel was the love interest of Ichabod Crane in Washington Irving's "Legend Of Sleepy Hollow."
Hurricane Katrina occurred in August 2005 and affected the Gulf region of the USA from Florida to Texas. It was particularly damaging to New Orleans, Louisiana, where old levees failed and caused major flooding. Hurricane Katrina holds the record as one of the five deadliest hurricanes and is the most costly hurricane in the history of the United States. At least 1,836 people died in the actual hurricane and in the subsequent floods, and total property damage was estimated at $81 billion (2005 USD).
"Katrina and the Waves" was a (mostly) British band active from 1981-1999. "Walking on Sunshine" (1985) is perhaps their best-known song. The band enjoyed a brief come-back when they won the "Eurovision Song Contest 1997" with their song "Love Shine a Light." The "Katrina" of the band is American-born lead singer Katrina Leskanich. After the band broke up in 1999, Katrina Leskanich had a long solo career until 2012, when she helped form a new band, "Katrina and The Romance."
