This name recalls Kimba Wood, one of the first woman judges in the U.S. I saw her many years ago at an event, and she was graceful and dignified as well as having such a distinguished career.

- Meanings and history of the name Kimbra: | Edit
There are several women and baby girls named Kimbra in the 1794 records of Somerset, England. In at least one case, a mother named Kimbra Croombe and her husband Joseph had their baby daughter Kimbra baptized.
We can only read stories about what is in the historic records that survived, but the name goes back to the 8th century. St. Kynburgh (often Latinized to Kynburgha) was important to the Anglo Saxon people and they developed legends about her. Many babies were named in her honor, with variations such as Kimber, Kinborrow, Cinbarra, Kimberry, and many others. Today, St. Kynburgha is recognized by the Protestant Anglican, Catholic, and Orthodox Christian traditions. Kynburgh was a princess who founded a convent during the Anglo Saxon period, before the Norman conquest. Some historians have suggested that local Anglo Saxon saints such as Kynburgh helped remind the people of their culture, which was quickly being replaced by Norman French names, language, and rulers.
