I often get asked if I am a Eric Clapton fan because I named my daughter Laila (I am) but...it is spelt differently. Also, when I approached the man (Geir Ness) who developed the Norwegian Perfume Laila I was exploding with excitment and blurted out i had name my daughter after the perfume. He smiled broadly and said "Oh thats wonderful...so you named her Lie-La (the Norwegian pronunciation of Laila). I had been pronouncig it the American way of Lay-La..... It is still lovely and preferred.
