My name is Lelia. I was named after my paternal grandmother. I only started to like my name at the age of 14 when I had to do research on it for an English assignment. Growing up, only a few people could pronounce it and so I had to get used to being called "Leila" or "Lila". It also gets misspelled a lot (like on checks and legal documents at work). Its okay name, I guess.

My name is Lelia...I was named for my grandmother who was born in 1900. She was named after an old English aunt of the family. I have to tell people, because they always ask, my name is Lelia, rhymes with Celia, they usually get it. I have always loved the heritage of my name, no matter how difficult it has been for other people to pronounce. I actually have a friend with the same name, Lelia, here in Houston...what are the odds?
