Loïe Fuller (1862–1928) was a famous dancer, choreographer,and innovator from the turn of the twentieth century. Born Marie Louise Fuller, Loïe's stage name was originally "Louie." When the American Fuller moved to Paris, she gained the new nickname "Loïe." This name was a pun on the Medieval French "L'oïe", which means "understanding."
Loie Bridge (1889-1974) was the sister of actor Al Bridge and a Hollywood actress who appeared in a number of films between 1930-1960.
