Comments and insights on the name Lori: | Edit

Lior and Lori are anagrams of each other; they contain the same letters.

I, as well as the previous person who commented, Love my name. It is generally unique, and I like it spelled with just the 4 letters. It's simple, and the other one's spell it to where it's a little more difficult to remember, or mainly more complex. I do like the name Lauren and the male name Lawrence. I also have siblings with unique names, which have seemed to gain popularity over time (Gordon and Gavin). I think Lori is a beautiful name for babies now, too, but probably less popular than in the 60's. I think my middle name, along with it, is unique, also. I imagine there are some with the Marie middle name or Anne/Ann. I read on a website once that a woman named Lori also really loved her name, and all of the Lori's (even with different spellings)that she had met/known were very nice and beautiful. I would add smart and creative to that! :) I also agree with the previous person that Mom's could be more creative/selective about names: there sure seem to be a lot of Brittany and Jessica names out there.

Personal experiences with the name Lori: | Edit

I was born in 1960. For the most part, Lori/Laurie's older than me spell it Laurie. Those who are younger spell it Lori.

It's my name and I LOVE it!!! I wouldn't change it for anything. I hardly ever run into another Lori, but I run into tons of Terry's (any way you spell it), Tammy's, Ashley's, Abby's, Sophia's, Tina's, Amanda's, & many, many more! I really, really get sick of these over-used names! Come on mom's think of something not quite so over-used, thanks!

My name is Laura, and my family always called me Lori. I prefer Laura, and they still call me Lori. Old habits die hard!

My name is Lori and it's always a pain when people assume it's spelled "Laurie." Also, because it reached its peak popularity in the 1960s the only people I meet with my name are people my parents' age.

-Same problems here. I was born in the '80s. At least it wasn't too common by then. I've never loved my name. I feel "Laura" sounds more respectable & mature. The one thing that I like about it, is the fact that it comes out of my mother's name; Gloria. That makes it special to me.

My name is Lori and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! It is common enough where people wouldn't have to ask you what your name was twice, but it is uncommon enough where no one in my class ever had the name. I'm in my 20's now, but I still love it. It's not too funky for work, but it's still uncommon enough and fitting for me :)
