Though there are a number of Louannes, LuAnns, and Lou Anns, I have never seen the name spelled like my family's version.

My name was Luan. I was named after my grandmother who was born in 1919. I was born in 1972. She was named after a friend of the family. I did not like the spelling of my name as it was often mispronounced and is also the spelling of an Asian male name. So, I changed the spelling in high school to: Luanne. I like this spelling much more as it seems more feminine and recognizable. I don't know many other names with so many spelling variations: Luan, Lu An, Luann, Luanne, Lu Ann, Lu Anne, Louann, Louanne, Lou Ann, Lou Anne :)

My mother passed the name to me for my middle name, and I passed it on to my daughter as a middle name when she was born in 1990.
