My sister, born in 1987 was named Maureen. She has always been the only one! I have realized that it is incredibly unique and sophisticated, as is my sister :) We have never called her Mo or Reenie, and many people mispronounce it and say "Marine" instead of the correct pronunciation of "Mor-reen" With all of the "Chloe's" and "Madison's" of today, this name is refreshingly old fashioned and yet contemporary.

Freestyle said: As a Maureen, I know I often have difficulty with people not hearing it right if I don't pronounce it very clearly. I often get 'Marie', which is funny, since I do pronounce it the proper way of "Mor-reen" instead of "Marine". I usually just go by Moe these days.
I learned the name Maureen as a feminine form of Maurice (morris.)
