I am named Melinda (born 1985) and although I was called Mindy as a child I am in love with my name!! It's so sweet and beautiful. No other name could fit me so well. I highly recommend this name to anyone. The only issue I have is that often times people will call me Melanie. I've learned to hate that name because quite honestly, who can't remember 'Melinda'? It's not that uncommon (although I don't know anyone else with the name) ;-) I am so proud to have this name and my middle name goes so well with it. Melinda Mae, perfect! Thanks parents!!
I was given Melinda because my Gramma suggested it, my mother kind of liked it, and she didn't know anyone else with that name. Though I hated my name growing up, and have never really liked how it looked on paper, I quite love it now and enjoy its simple and unique prettiness. I don't really have nick names other than Mel occasionally and Mells from one friend.

When my daughter was born (in 2008) we wanted to give her an uncommon but not a strange name so we decided to name her Melinda. I think it's adorable to call her by her first and middle name; Melinda Piper.
I have an aunt named Melinda. Everyone mostly calls her by her nickname, though.
I'm named Melinda and was born in 1980. My parents named me after my Uncle Mel and Aunt Linda. They also thought they might call me Mindy (they liked Mork & Mindy, the Robin Williams TV show from that time), but everyone always called me Melinda until college. Since then I've been nicknamed Mel by a few people. I like the meaning behind why my parents named me this and that it's a different name while still being easy to pronounce and spell.
