I LOVE THIS NAME!!!!!!!!!!
This is a really cute name. Whether it's pronounced "Mor-gan-uh" or "Mor-gah-nuh", it is very pretty, feminine, and the right choice to name a female child as opposed to "Morgan", which is undoubtedly a handsome MALE name. :)
- Personal experiences with the name Morgana: | Edit
My name is Morgana -- it's unusual and pretty, sure, but to be honest, I don't like having it. People keep forgetting my name, or mispronouncing it (there's the "morg-ann-uh" pronunciation, which I have, or the "morg-on-uh" pronunciation, which everyone else thinks I have), or else just giving up and calling me Morgan instead. Sometimes teachers in school didn't even try to say it, and just called me by my last name instead. Don't name your girls this, please - it's more trouble than it's worth. :(
What IS the correct pronunciation? Morg-ANNA or Morg-AH-na?
I would pronounce Morgana as morg-ah-na and Morganna as morg-anna.
My name's Morgana, and frankly, I love it! The name itself has a HUGE amount of stories and information behind it, besides being unique and beautiful. Also, nobody forgets it. And, thus far, I've never seen another Morgana- only online, sometimes. However, some people are confused about the pronunciation: the correct way to say it would be Morg-ANNA, not Morg-AH-na.
- Nicknames for Morgana: | Edit
Person named Morgana here - various nicknames I've gathered over the years are Morg (like the place for dead people), Morgie (rhymes with "corgi"), Anna and variations thereof, and Gana (rhymes with Anna - I really hated this one!). Ana (Ah-na) Gana (Gah-na), like the country (I'm half Ghanaian)
The main nickname I've received is Momo (which is also a name in japanese, meaning 'peach'). There are actually more, and I'd put all of them here, but since I live in a portuguese-sepaking country, the pronunciation would be well off.
- Meanings and history of the name Morgana: | Edit
