My grandma's name is Phyllis. It is honestly the ugliest name I've ever heard. Not a single one of her grandchildren are even considering her name as potential middle name for their kids... The name Phyllis conjures a vision of a portly, old woman with a bad temper and no teeth.
I don't think this name is so bad!
- Personal experiences with the name Phyllis: | Edit
One of my good friends in high school was named Phyllis. It was the worst girl name in our class. She hated it so much she now goes by her middle name of Joy, which she doesn't like much better but it sure beats the alternative!
I knew 2 very pretty girls named Phyllis in school, so I don't think that name is so bad - not like Gertrude or Mildred! But I wouldn't name a child that today.
There was a girl in my school with this name, but she spelled it Phyliss. I like that spelling better - gives it more zing!
