My name has always been a conversation-piece. As a child it was too different and I have not always liked it, but now as an adult, I am glad to be unique. I am in contact with another Ramelle who goes by the nickname "Melly". I have been called Mel and Rami, but prefer my entire name.

My name Ramelle is a combination of "Ramon" and "Estelle". Ramon, as a Hispanic variation of Raymond means "wise protector". Estelle means "star". I like to think "Ramelle" means "wise, protecting star". That is its Hispanic/Latin meaning. HOWEVER, in Hebrew, "Ram" means "highly exalted" and "El" refers to God. So, in Hebrew, Ramelle means "God is highly exalted.

In the movie "Saving Private Ryan" the lead character Ryan is defending a strategically-important bridge over the Merderet River in the fictional town of Ramelle. The spelling and pronunciation of this town is the same as my name, leading one to believe that the name Ramelle has French origins.
