My name is Regan (pronounced Ree-gen) and I really hate when people call me Ray-gan. People who pronounce Ray with this spelling are wrong as far as I see it. I actually love my name, but Ray-gan is one of my least favorite names.
The "RE" sound in Regan is so unappealing to me. Shakespeare got it right with this one.
The "RE" is pronounced "RAY". My sister's name is Regan and we pronounce her name Ray-gin (hard G). She hates to be called Ree-gan. By the way, she has an awesome personality and is super smart (4.0 Chemistry major in college, Masters in Education).
The "RE" isn't always pronounced "RAY." There are many Regans out there who prefer Ree-gan, not Ray-gun. I think most people who like Ray-gun spell their name Raegan or Reagan (like the former president).
Every Shakespeare play I have every seen" has pronounced it "Ray" also in school my teachers pronounced it Ray which is why I decided to name my daughter Regan pronounced Ray, because I love Shakespeare. Even in the Exorcist they pronounce it Ray. I'm not sure when people started pronouncing it Re...
My name is Regan pronounced Ree-gan I HATE it when people call me Raygan or Reagan ect, how Regan looks it looks like it should be pronounced REEgan at least hat spelling, okay I'll be gone.

The name Regan is a actually a baby boy name. The name Regan originally comes from the Celtic origin. In Celtic The meaning of the name Regan is: "Regal" or "little King". There are more British males with Regan as their first name as there are American males with Regan as their first name.
The name Regan is both a boy's and a girl's name. It was used for one of King Lear's daughters in Shakespeare, was the name of the little girl in The Exorcist, and has gained popularity among baby girls in the past few decades. It means "regal" and "royal" for a little girl.
In my experience I have found that girls with the name regan tend to be bratty; they tend to be quite weak* and get emotinal over everything and they also tend to think of themselves highy.
One of my closest friend's name is Regan pronounced Ree-gin and she DOES NOT like being called Ray-gin.
My name is Regan and it's pronounced Ree-gan. Ray-gan is Reagan. Both pronunciations are acceptable though I would argue that "Ray-gan" is grammatically incorrect.
My name is Regan as well. It is most definitely Ree-gan. "Re-" makes the "Ree" sound and "Rea-/Rae" is "Ray". As much as it is up to you how to say your child's name, it is incorrect to say "Ray-gan", technically speaking. If you want to name your child Regan, and pronounce it "Ray-gan", then name them Reagan.
