Rhianna: Meaning, Popularity, Origin of Baby Name Rhianna | Girls
Origin of the name Rhianna:
Borrowed from the Welsh, Rhiannon is an ancient Celtic name of uncertain derivation. Some believe it to be derived from the Old Celtic Rigantona (great queen). The name, which is borne in Celtic Mythology by a goddess of fertility, was not used as a given name until the 20th century. Its popularity outside Wales is due in large part to the song "Rhiannon" by the rock group Fleetwood Mac.

Growing up with this name was a little difficult. Teachers could never pronounce it, and I still have family members that pronounce it ana instead of anna. I've also had various nicknames involving banana; nanners, B, Rhi-nanna. But it love how unique my name is, and I love that every time I say my name I get asked, "Like the Fleetwood Mac song?"

Rhianna is the same as Rhiannon, and Rhiannon was a name for a welsh godess. She was a godess of fertility. She had a baby when she had it it vanished, then her friends put dog blood on her and told everyone that she ate it. I forgot the rest but you can look it up. I also have the name Rhianna. :) Also it means Great Queen or Witch Godess.
