Actually, as to the above, it was long speculated to be a girl's name originally. Most historians believe that it was a unisex name perhaps, but was indeed always a name used for girls.

I used Rowan as my daughter's middle name, It goes perfect with her first name (Ramsey). They are both very rare names for girls. I never met a girl Ramsey or Rowan so I decided this would be a perfect choice as i wanted a unique first and middle name.
I think Rowan Ramsey sounds better than Ramsey Rowan.
