If you like the name Sadie, you might want to look into the name Zadie (or Zaidee).

Sadie is a nickname for the name Sarah, as made famous by the wife of Abraham, mother of Issac, in the Bible.

We named our baby girl Sadie this year (2014) it is a perfect fit for us because her mothers name is Sarah and Sadie is a diminutive of Sarah so it was a perfect fit and everybody loves her name.

Commonly mis-pronounced as "SAD-EEE" or "SAH-DEE" not fun. Nobody gets it right.

Personal experiences with the name Sadie: | Edit

I was born in 1986 when the name wasn't super-common, every other person I met either had a grandmother, elderly mother or dog by the name. I have always gotten cooed over how cute my name is... however, coming from a Sadie who had it when it wasn't super-common, it's strange to see it starting to rise in the top name lists.

I was born in '85, and it's true...every person's dog has this name. Or so I get told...it's kinda annoying. :)

I gave my dog this name in '97 after seeing it in a story. I had no idea that it was actually a popular dog name. I didn't start hearing of other dogs with that name until nearly ten years later.

My friend, whose name is Sarah Adelaide, gets called Sadie a lot. I think it's cute.

My daughter's name is Sadie Olyvia. She's 5. I chose it because of it's ties to the name Sarah, meaning princess. She's my only girl, and princess was a fitting meaning for her, but I wanted to avoid Sarah (I know several, including family members) so Sadie won. I've never met another Sadie, nor met anyone with a dog named Sadie. I guess it's not very popular here. I love her name, and so does she. Though I want to punch people in the face when they mispronounce it. Honestly, how does one see the name Sadie and think it says "Saw-dee" or "Sah-dee"?!?! *facepalm*

Hello. I was born in 1979 and my name is Sadie.. My middle name is Lynne. I HATE MY NAME WITH A PASSION. (Not to mention, even in the doctor's office; the nurse will say: "I have a DOG named Sadie!!" I have tried to change my name since I was in pre-school. My name was outcasted-all of the popular girls had names like ashley, nicole, Kristi, Kristen etc...I changed my name as early as the age of 3 in day care to "Skipper" then "Ruby" in the 1st grade, then to "Simone" in the 4th grade. I HATE it. Sadie was a terrible name for me as I got made fun of daily and was called "Satan" for the entirety of my school-life. I am very pretty, but could never be popular because of my NAME. Names form who you are, and it is proven, especially in boys that 'manly-man' names fare well rather than names like "Jayden, Aaiden, Caiden, Dolyn, or whatever weirdo hybrid names they have now for boys. I NEVER introduce myself because I HATE my name soooo much-the way it is spelled, the way it sounds. AND nobody says it right. You will be "Katie, or Sarah" I just go along with it. Your kid will be in the "weirdo group" because it just does not belong amongst the rest...get ready for an outcasted kid with no friends. All the old people will tease "Sadie Hawkins Day!! Go chase the boys!" PLEASE don't do this to your girl. Name her something pretty and normal.
