I love having Selena as my name, it was great not having to share my name with anyone at school! I notice that it is becoming more popular now, but I only met one other Selena in the first 25 years of my life!

Personal experiences with the name Selena: | Edit

My name is Selena and for the most part I like it. My full name is Selena Jean. I like that it is unique and I think I've only met one or two other Selenas during my lifetime( I'm 30). Alot of ppl think it's a hispanic name but really it's Greek. Selena was the greek goddess of the moon. I love that meaning. Anyhow I'm glad it's my name.

My name is also Selena - I hated it when I was younger, I wanted to be Samantha or Savannah or something like that! Now I'm glad I'm Selena and not those other 2... My full name is Selena Leigh. Not many Selena's have our spelling - usually it's the more common Selina. I have been called Sabrina, Serina, Sarina, Celine to name a few - so I guess we're not all that common. I can deal with being a Goddess.

Another Selena who loves her name. I too went through a period as a kid being annoyed that I had to spell my name a lot and I was so "different," but I got over that pretty quickly and now I'm proud to be unique in a sea of Ashleys and Kristins. As a kid I loved looking myself up in mythology books. It's a great name! Unusual but not too hard to pronounce or spell, and with an awesome origin. Name your babies Selena! Let's get back on the top 100!

My daughters name is Selena. I named her that because I've always loved the name, and after Selena Q. P. I've listened to her music and watched the movie for as long as I can remember, and when she passed my whole family and I wept for the loss. She was an amazing person and beautiful singer. I'm glad I named my girl after her!
