My name is Shandi and I like it a lot, but introductions can be a bother. Whenever I tell people my name they either think I said "Shani", "Shannon", or "Sandy". When people are reading it out loud they typically pronounce it Shawndee whereas I pronounce it Shandee, but that's never really bothered me. I usually have to correct people's spelling of it too, usually it gets spelled Shandy or Shandie. I've gotten used to just introducing myself with "I'm Shandi, like Sandy, but with an H and an I." Other than that I love my name, it's short and simple enough to not require a nickname, although sometimes I get called "Shand" which I'm not a huge fan of. It could also be shortened to Andi I guess.

Hi, I'm Shandi. I'm happy with my name. I have the same problem as the other Shandi wrote. People are always calling me Sandy or mixing my name up somehow. I tell them the same thing she does..It's LIKE Sandy, but with a "H" & and a "Y". Even then you have to repeat yourself. When I spell it to them they still get the "I" wrong & write it with a "Y" anyway. Only 5 of my teachers ever got my name right. I've gotten used to people getting it wrong my entire life so it doesn't bother me anymore.

Our adopted daughter who is now 9 1/2 already had the name Shandi & we thought it was pretty, different & unusual so we kept her name. I sometimes call her "Shan" for short, although I am the ONLY one who does so. She says she likes that nickname so I'm sticking with it!
