Personal experiences with the name Shanti: | Edit

Sometimes I really dislike my name. It's really easy for people to misspell as Chantie, Shanty, or any variation thereof. I actually quite like how it sounds when it's pronounced correctly (Shawn-tee) but people often mispronounce it, saying Shan as in Shannon which I think is a rather ugly pronunciation, and a "shanty" pronounce similarly is not something you want to be named after. When I was younger I used to get a lot of people thinking my name was Ashanti like the singer, but that made me really upset since it takes away it's beautiful meaning of peace. Overall I like the way my name sounds and looks when combined with my equally unusual middle and last names, but because all of my siblings have VERY normal and American names, I feel a little out of place and don't quite like having such a strange name. On the other had, I've enjoyed not ever being in a situation where there are multiple people with my same first name!!!
