Comments and insights on the name Sheri: | Edit

My name is Sheri and I am a very young Sheri, in fact all of the Sheri's I've ever met are at least 20 years older then me. My dad was older when he had me and he used to tell me that he named me after the song by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons (mom picked the spelling) and I always considered myself blessed because my mom had wanted to name me Robin (haha yes I love you dad!)

Personal experiences with the name Sheri: | Edit

My name is Sheri and I love my name. I like that I do not have to worry about there being a bunch of Sheri's in the class and I like the fact that there are different ways of spelling it. I am kind of tired of hearing the Sheri Baby song sung to me but I have always loved the combination of sweetness and strength that it possesses.

Meanings and history of the name Sheri: | Edit

My mother told me as I was growing up that my name meant, "Beautiful," or "My beloved." I guess that's close enough to the French meaning shown here. My sisters both have VERY unusual names that my mother made up; I was always half-glad mine was more common and half-mad that she didn't bother to make up mine the way she did theirs. Can't win! However, as opposed to the one the younger woman mentions above, having a name that can be spelled a zillion ways (like Lori/Laurie...)is a PAIN. If you don't spell it slowly for people, they are destined to get it wrong. Oh, well, I agree with one thing--Sheri will always sound better to me than Robin--or Ethel, which was the grandmother I might've been named after!
