My 2nd child is named Tia. We have a lot of Spanish speaking friends, some who thought Tia as a girl's name was funny. We let them know that she can go by the greek meaning and so her spanish name is Princessa! We love the fact that we've never met another Tia and her name is commented on often as being a lovely name. We considered Mia and Ella as alternate names but are so happy we chose the more unique Tia. Our Tia loves her name and truely is a princess-be that good or bad;-)

My name is Tia and I'm 18, When I was first born there wasn't many Tias' but now its starting to get more common, my name means princess in Greek.

My name is also Tia and I am 49 years old. My name was actually an accident because my Grandmother had heard a name she liked but somehow my parents got the spelling and pronunciation wrong and I was named Tia. I have never found or heard of someone older than myself with the name Tia as their legal name on their birth certificate. I didn't like my name as a child because it was so different and everyone in my generation had traditional names like, Susan, Jane, Beth, etc. I love my name now because it is so different.

My oldest daughter is called Tia and I still love the name. It suits her too as she thinks she is a princess.

I have learned from other message boards that some Tia's get the nickname Ta-Ta-Ta- Tia! a take off from the Chia Pet comercials. Our Tia does not have a nickname.

My Daughter is 14 and I named her Tiahana (Maori) Tia for short! She is 14 and gets called TT by a few people. The name Tia, suits my girl down to the ground!!

My mother found my name when she heard it on a movie. One of the characters is named Tia in Escape to Witch Mountain
