I got called Velcro in grades school. Growing up people called me Val. As an adult I have grown to hate that name because most people assume my name is Valerie (a name I have also grown to hate, just because I have to say "not Valerie, Valkyrie"). As an adult friends either call me by my full name, or Valk (which honestly I love), or V (Vee). My nieces call my Aunt VV.
