I first heard this name from a friend who used to live in Japan and had a friend by the name. I'm surprised I knew how to spell it and even more surprised that I found the meaning in several places...including from my mom who had a friend by that name growing up in CA.It stuck out to me as a unique name from another culture and the meaning just makes it better. American families or families of Japanese origin alike(English speakers or not) can use this name and it doesn't sound too foreign-in fact It's pretty. And I think it could easily find its place in English speaking countries.
