An interesting examination of Kate Spade's name

I'm not a fashion person and couldn't point out any of her designs, but I am definitely familiar with kate spade the brand. This article looks at how her name was chosen and evolved over time, along with her career.

It's great branding. We've talked a lot about how duplicating sounds, done right, can make a name super catchy and memorable, and Kate Spade is a great example of that with the repeated "ay" and one-syllable meter.

I'm not a fashion person, either, but my last two pairs of glasses have been Kate Spade. Designed long after she left the company, but it's sad to have to look at the name every time I put them on now. I'm trying not to think about it too much.
