Boy/Girl twins seen today

7 months old, Harper and Brynn.  I like them, but was a little suprised to see Harper used as a boys name-it seems much more common for girls where I live.

i used to think of Harper as a boy's name and recently saw it used on a male character of the NCIS finale last week. however, it definitely is trending toward girls names, i believe, and now it does seem a bit unusual on a boy, unless more mothers start naming their male infants this to even it up again.  love Bryn as a girls name, but funnily when i suggested it as a potential for us, my mother in law thought it was a boy's name. i didn't pronounce it like bryan or brian! she just thought it was not feminine at all, which cracks me up!

I always think of Harper Lee when I hear the name, so it would surprise me too to meet a boy named Harper.

I'd also think of Harper more as a girls' name because of Harper Lee and recent celebrity daughters.  Danasurfside, like your mother in law, I would only have thought of Bryn(n) as a male name before reading these forums.  It's a not-uncommon Welsh name, and a masculine noun (=hill) in Welsh.  It'll be interesting to see if the trend for giving it to girls spreads over here.
