Brother for Benjamin

So I like names that have a nickname. An easy nickname. Like our 2yo Benjamin is almost always called Ben. But I like that he is a Benjamin.

My husband and I had agreed on Henry for this next little boy, but it's really starting to bug on me that it doesn't have an easy nickname that just stems right from the name (I know Hank and Harry, but am not a fan).

The issue I'm running into is that my husband has turned down almost all "easy" classic names. William, Samuel, Nathaniel, Alexander, Theodore. All out. Daniel, Christopher, and Kenneth are out because we don't want to repeat names int he family as first names.

Middle name will most likely be Christopher, but might also be Daniel.

Any suggestions?

Another traditional nickname for Henry is Hal.  The list of boys' names with obvious nicknames is almost endless:  Edward, Edmund, Edgar, Edwin, Raymond, Robert, Russell, Thomas, Vincent, Victor, Joseph, Jonathan, Stephen, Matthew, David, Michael, Peter, Leonard, Louis, Arthur, Joshua, Abraham, Franklin, Frederick, Alfred, Albert, Alan, Alvin, Calvin, Melvin, Marvin, Gerald, Gerard, Gregory, etc., etc.

I have a cousin Benjamin with brothers Nicholas and Timothy - I think the 3 work nicely together as a sibset.

Andrew, Geoffrey, and James are also good.  Of them all, I like James best with Christopher and Nicholas with Daniel.

My brother is B3njamin, almost always called Ben; my other brother is J0nathan, almost always called J3b -- his nn since infancy. If my parents had had more boys, Michael and Matthew were the two frontrunners. Jonathan Daniel is a great name imo, and you could easily do Jon as a nn or even Jack if you preferred. Nathan is another that comes to mind for you (though your husband has nixed Nathaniel), and the nn Nate is very easy. Nathan Christopher and Nathan Daniel both sound fine to me.

I also know a family with brothers B3njamin and Gabri3l -- B3n and Gab3 both have the same feel to me, and I think they go great together. Gabri3l Christopher is my favorite combo.

I love Gabriel! But forgot to add it to the "nixed" list. *sigh* I'd yell at my husband for being difficult, but we had agreed on Henry and I changed my mind, so maybe it's me. ;)

Did anyone nix Maxwell; Lucas; Zachary; Wesley?? those are some "classics" that are not often thought of. Best wishes.

When I saw this post, I was also going to suggest Maxwell or Samuel. Too bad Sam is out. And I have a Wesley, so I can second Wes as a great nn.

I think Nicholas and Jameson (Jameson Daniel sounds nice!) are really nice names w/nn Nick and Jamey/Jimmy. I also like William and nn Willy.

What about:

Andrew "Andy" or "Drew"... Maybe even "Rew/Rue"? That would be kind of cute.

Arthur "Art" or "Artie"

Charles "Charlie", "Chuck", or "Chaz"

David "Dave" (kinda dated) or "Davey"

Edward, Edwin, or Edmund "Eddie", "Ted", "Teddy", or "Ned". You could also call Edwin Win :)

Frederick "Fred" or "Freddie"

James "Jimmy" or "Jim"

John "Jack" or "Johnny"

Joseph "Joe" or "Joey" or maybe "Jos"

Louis "Louie"

Lawrence "Larry", "Lawrie", or "Wren"

Michael "Mike", "Mikey", "Mickey" or the less common "Miles" or "Milo" (might be a stretch)

Nicholas "Nick", "Nicky" "Nico", or "Cole"

Peter "Pete" or "Petey"

Robert "Rob", "Robby", "Bob", or "Bobby"

Thomas "Tom" (Sometimes people spell it Thom) or "Tommy

Vincent "Vin", "Vince" or "Vinnie"

I'm sure there were a bunch of repeats on this list, my apologies! Best of luck!

I like the suggestion above Arthur, nn Artie and Wesley, nn Wes. Maybe Harrison, nn Harry? I know you said you aren't a fan of Harry, but not sure if that's because it's not obvious or if you just don't like the name.

Other ideas that would sound good with Christopher as the middle name:

August, nn Augie

Martin, nn Martie or Mark

Julian, nn Jude

Cameron, nn Cam or Cammie

Phillip, nn Phil

Solomon, nn Sol

Jeremy or Remington, nn Remy

Oliver, nn Ollie

Joshua, nn Josh

Jason, nn Jace

Bradley, nn Brad

Mitchell, nn Mitch

Trevor, nn Trey

Colton, nn Colt

Dennis, nn Denny

I don't know. I love the names Ben and Henry together, and Henry is one of my favorites. It's hard for me to be unbiased about it. Good luck picking

My oldest son is Lawrence Matthew and our second son is Benjamin Stephen.  Lawrence's nicknames are Ren, Rence and Rencey.  We also like Timothy, Edward and Charles.  Which all have great nick names that go with them.  But I think Henry is a great name with Benjamin.  You can always make up your own nickname.  We almost didn't name our oldest Lawrence because we didn't like the nickname Larry.  My mom came up with Rence.  You could call a Henry "Ray"
