Expecting a girl-help me decide between two names?

Hi there!

I am expecting a girl and am having trouble deciding between two names.

I have one girl already, named Saige.

Which name do you think goes better with Saige: Kate or Molly? I love them equally and am trying to figure out which goes better with Saige.

Thanks so much!

This may just be an association I have because of babysitting and having lots of little girls in my life, but just FYI that Saige and Molly are both American Girl dolls.  I dont know where you are located or if that matters to you, but that was my automatic association!

I personally like the name Kate better than Molly, but I don't think there is anything wrong with either of them or that either flow better with Saige particularly. I think Kate evokes a much more timeless, classic image, whereas I have a couple of negative associations with Molly. I also think that Molly seems a little cutesy, like a name that I can't imagine on an older adult woman. But again, that's just a personal preference.

The American Girl dolls were my immediate thought, too, so it's definitely not just you!

Out of Kate and Molly, I prefer Molly, but I don't think either really "go with" Saige at all.

Kate gets my vote, but I like Molly too.

I personally like Molly (and know a few adult professionals so think it ages fine), but I think both options are perfectly serviceable. All three have a sprightly, cheerful, slightly casual sound to me. I guess I lean slightly towards Molly as the sounds are more distinct from Saige, but that's just a personal preference.

Molly and Kate are similar to each other, and about equally dissimilar to Saige.  Use the one you prefer.  In either case, I favor using Mary/Miriam or Catherine/Caterina/Catalina with a nickname.

Oh, and I should point out that my username isn't my actual name!  I have no personal experience being a Molly (or Catherine).

I like Molly better with Saige. Kate repeats the "long A" sound which kind of bugs me.
