Etta vs. Edie vs. Elspeth - None are bad per se but I guess I would go with Etta. Elspeth is a bit too spitty (you know what I mean, I feel like I get spit on my computer when I say it out loud) and Edie is a bit too popular.

Morforwyn vs. Maggie vs. Mabella - Maggie, but I do like Mabella a lot more than the suddenly everywhere Mabel.

Weluela vs. Willa vs. Wilhelmina  - Willa's a bit too popular but I guess it's my fave; wouldn't mind Wilhelmina nicknamed Willa though. Weluela... some names need to stay in the history books.

Aelia vs. Aemiliana vs. Abigail - Abigail, don't start a name with Ae, it just leads to pronunciation troubles.

Priscilla vs. Perpetua vs. Peta - I quite like Priscilla already but it's really the only usable option among these three. Perpetua sounds weird and Peta's got that wretched animal "rights" group attatched to it.

Giada vs. Genevieve vs. Gratia - Genevieve's not terrible but I'd go with Giada. Gratia, well, just sounds kinda grating (literally like the word grating, I mean)

Juliana vs. Jane vs. Jemima - Jane, easily. I suppose there's nothing wrong with Juliana, it's just kinda frilly. Jemima though is super racist.

Cora vs. Cynthia vs. Ciara - I really love Cynthia, but Cora and Ciara aren't the worst.

Feena vs. Fidelma vs. Fabienne - Fabienne, easily. Fidelma just sort of makes me think of Fidel Castro and Feena just sounds funny.

Odette vs. Onnee vs. Ola - Odette, I love the Swan Princess. Onnee just looks like a mispelled "one" and Ola seems a little short (I guess it would be a fine nickname though)

Liv vs. Lemmitty vs. Lykke - Liv, obviously (though I don't care for it on its own/not short for Olivia or Olive.) I know Lykke is a real name in Sweden or Denmark or Belgium or somewhere in that general area (I forgot where exactly it's from) but my English speaking brain just reads "like" and Lemmitty... no just no.

Zoya vs. Zara vs. Zelie - going with Zoya, I used to like Zara until that talentless singer Zara Larsson became a thing and Zelie just sounds kinda silly.

Barbara vs. Belvina vs. Bridget - Bridget, although I have a soft spot for Barbara because of a family connection. Belvina though just sounds weird.

Harriet vs. Hortensia vs. Hermia - I don't really have strong feelings on any of these, I'm worried Harriet's going to become the next big name that everyone's going to use so I'm preemptively bored of it, Hortensia is better than Hortense but it's still a little stuffy, Hermia is pretty but it's a little close to hernia for comfort. I like the similar Hermina though.

What are your favourite girls' names that can be shortened to...

Abby/Addie? I like Adelaide in theory, but in practice I think it gets a little stuffy. I'd probably go with Abigail (which I like better than "Abby" anyway!)

Allie/Alex? Allison

Ann/Anne/Anna/Ana? I just like Anna

Becca/Becky? I love Rebecca (and prefer Becky to Becca for the shortened form)

El/L? Eleanor - but as an honorable mention, I sort of have a thing for the name "Laurie Ann" shortened to "LA"

Jen/Jessie/Jess/Jill? Well MY name is Jessica but I go by Jessie, and I really wish my parents had just stuck with that as my full legal name! (Or else switched it altogether to Jennifer, which is much more practical and less overbearingly feminine than Jessica)

Kate/Cate/Katie/Cathy/etc? Again, my top choice is just Kate as the full legal name! But I'd call Katelyn a runner-up.

Maddie/Maggie? Always a close call between Madison and Madeline, but in either case my prefered nickname would probably be "Mads" :)

Rosie/Rose? Just Rose!

Nell/Nellie? Cornelia

Betsy/Betty/Beth/Bess? If I were to do a variation on Elizabeth, it would probably be "Elizabet"

Cal/Callie? Callisto - but what's funny now that I'm thinking about it, if it weren't for the word, "Calorie" would almost make a pretty name lol!

Evie/Edie? Evelyn

J/Jamie/Jay? Jacqueline

A traditional boy's name, but with an "ie" - think Stevie, Frankie, Georgie, etc? Jackie

Which is your favourite?

Etta vs. Edie vs. Elspeth - Etta

Morforwyn vs. Maggie vs. Mabella - Maggie

Weluela vs. Willa vs. Wilhelmina - Willa

Aelia vs. Aemiliana vs. Abigail - Abigail

Odette vs. Onnee vs. Ola - Odette
