Girl name!!

My name is Brianna and I'm looking for a girl name that goes along with TJ (Thomas John). I'm dating an african-american so I want it to somehow go along with him too, but not something too crazy. Thanks!

I would like to hear your name choices, it would be better, to see what you prefer and like, and then we can discuss :)

Thomas John brings to mind very classic names such as Elizabeth, Catherine, and Anna.  Is that what you're looking for?

Audrey is a lovely name and evokes the great African-American poet, Audre Lord. Her original name was Audrey but she dropped the y at some point. Well done.

Your name is Brianna - so are you of Irish heritage? The traditional Irish name Siobhan is pronounced "Shavonne" and quite popular in African-American communities (although they never keep the Irish spelling, which is really quite sensible). If you are looking for a name that nods to these two heritages, this might be a winner.

I'm actually Italian haha but the name is very unique. It's a really pretty name, but now quite what I'm looking for. SOrry for being so vague. :(

I can't tell from your post if you're looking for a name for your soon-to-be baby or for something else (your cat? yourself?). If you're having a baby, is TJ her brother? Is your boyfriend the dad? Does he have an opinion about the name? If TJ is your daughter's brother, do you care whether or not their names have similar styles?

I'm looking for a name for a soon-to-be baby and TJ is going to be the boy name if we have a boy just not sure about the girl name. He doesn't really have any opinions about the name.

You really give us extremely little to work with.

Disclaimer: I'm not American so I don't know what "goes along with" African-American very well, but I plugged Audrey into the Name Matchmaker (I originally put both Thomas and Audrey but just got a lot of extremely traditional responses like Mary, Elizabeth and Catherine) and got some of the following:

Naomi, Vivian, Avery, Aurora, Simone (has been discussed on this forum before as possibly leaning African-American) Ivy, Amelia, Angelina.

Specifying a preference for African American I got Simone at the top, and also names like Ariana, Aaliyah and a number of similar names starting in A and ending in ah, Kiera, Janiya, Nia, Kimora, Asia, Jada, Lyric and a whole host of names like Taniya. Browsing through a list of African American female celebrities, however, I noticed that most of them had completely standard names (Robin, Jennifer, Michelle, or more exotically Viola or Octavia) that don't signal race one way or the other to me.

I don't know if any of these move in directions you like? But since you don't seem to have strong opinions, and since your boyfriend seems totally unbothered, I might just go with Audrey. It goes really nicely with Thomas John, if you ever have one, as mentioned above it does have a notable tie to the African American community. How does your boyfriend feel about Audrey?
