Help Us Choose Between Two!

We just found out we are pregnant with our third girl and are between the names Chloe and Joelle. Our other two daughters are Lucy and Molly - I thought maybe Chloe would go better with those two as a third name within the same sound and feel and I love it, however I'm worried that it's way too popular of a name. We love the name Joelle but aren't sure it fits with our other girls names.

So, which do you like better - Chloe or Joelle?

I think Chloe is a better fit with her sisters; but if you love Joelle, I would go for it.

(I personally don't love Joelle, but for no good reason.)

Chloe! Super cute like the other 2 names.

Chloe,  I think another 2 syllable short name ending in y - would be nice too eg Ruby, Ivy, Daisy etc

also to have another n with the same sounding ending with a L in it  Lucy, Molly and Nelly - LMN names  or Sally   Joely, Joelly

or non y ending Elsie

I love the name Chloe so that would definitely be my pick. I honestly wouldn't worry about popularity, it gets said all the time on here but popularity isn't what it used to be and a top 20 name doesn't mean that she will be one of five in her class. Do you know any Chloe's in your older daughters' circles of friends? Are there any girls named that in their school? Do you hear it much when you're at playgrounds or kids parties? These things will be a better indicator of how popular the name is in your actual area than national statistics.

Well, I think Chloe definitely SOUNDS more like your older daughter's names and has a similar style/feel. I personally feel like they may be TOO matching. It reminds me of a friend who has kids with names that all have the same ending sounds (all "son")- it just feels like it was intentional and a bit much. BUT, that being said... That's just me. I personally don't have an investment in either name- I think they're both fine. I just get a very cutesty, matchy-matchy vibe in hearing Molly, Lucy, and Chloe together.

I perfer Joelle to Chloe. I think I am so over Chloe becuase of the popularity but it still is a pretty name. I think Joelle is still cute and sounds good with your other girls names. I am a big supporter of having a couple of names and waiting till you see your new baby to decide if she is more of a Joelle or a Chloe. Congrats btw!

I personaly think that Chloe is a brilliant fit with your other two daughters and even though chloe maybe a popular name at the moment, it is not necessarily a bad thing.

I think I like Joelle better, but then I tend to like a bit more variation in sibling groups. The repeating endings of Lucy, Molly and Chloe would probably trip me up a fair bit, and I think Joelle sounds like it fits in without fitting in TOO much, as someone else said. It actually repeats the dominant L sound of both sisters' names and the o of Molly (as does Chloe of course).

Lucy, Molly, and Chloe sound like sisters from a children's storybook or nursery rhyme. If that appeals to you, great! Chloe isn't SO matchy that it feels like it was chosen simply to match her sisters, and it's a name that would serve her well as an adult when she is no longer a unit with her siblings in daily life.

Personally, I like variation in style -- not just in names, but in everything that can either go the matching or coordinating route. But that's me and these aren't my kids. If you tend to like things that match, and if snappy names ending in -ee is your style, and if Chloe is just your favourite name, then just own it.

I wouldn't overthink the match with your other daughters. Lucy, Molly and Chloe is a great set, yes, but I wouldn't blink at Lucy, Molly and Joelle. It's perfectly fine. On a matching scale of 1 - 10, Chloe may be a 10, but Joelle is still an 8 or 9.

I personally prefer Chloe, despite the popularity, but that's mainly because Joelle reads as dated to me. Matching doesn't come into the picture.

Thank you! The scale thing really helped me :)

Of the two i prefer Chloe.

I know you didnt ask for suggestions, but perhaps something like Josie would be appealing - similer-ish to Joelle, but stylistically closer to her sisters?

I like Joelle - it has multiple nickname options too (Joey, JoJo, Ellie).

They are both fine names, and you are definitely over-thinking it! You love one but it's "too popular," you love the other but it "doesn't fit".... okay, so which one do you love most?  They are both lovely names and I think they all fit.  Personally, I think Joelle fits better (and confession: I like it much better) but obviously there are diverse opinions on this forum.  Heres'one thing I think is charming: your 3 girls would all have L in their names, but beginning, middle, and end of their names.  This is even more fun if Lucy is first girl (L @ beginning), Molly is middle (L in middle slot), and Joelle is youngest (L at end).  That's cute without being cutesy.  Then again, if you prefer Chloe it is a fine name too.

Thank you! Great points. It's been encouraging to hear a few say they feel Joelle fits well or even better (my husband likes it more :)) , or that super matchy-matchy isn't necessarily important or preferable.

Thank you so much, everyone, for your input! I so appreciate you all taking the time to offer your opinions and suggestions. This has been very helpful to me. :)
