HIMYM name fun

There were two solid name jokes on this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother. (No major plot points mentioned below.)

First, there was an entire sequence showing Barney lovingly interacting with his tie, Cornelius (not as creepy as it sounds), reflecting the connection between giving names to inanimate objects and anthropomorphising them.

Then later, Ted attends a child swim class and he greets the kids thusly: "[A name that I can best make out as Auggie but that may be something else], Jayden, Dylan, girl Dylan." It was the "Dylan, girl Dylan" that amused me most :)

That's why it amused me so much... because it felt so entirely plausible! :) There is probably going to be a lot of that in the current generation of little kids.

That reminds me of a rerun of an NCIS episode I saw recently.  Tony goes to the house of Drew Lastname and when she opens the door, he greets her with "You're a woman!"

There's another one where he expects an attorney named Sean Oliver to be a man, but then immediately starts flirting when it turns out she's a beautiful woman.

This was about 10 years ago, but in my brother's kindergarten class, there wsa boy Markie and girl Markie.  I think her full name was actually Markie.

(now I get a glare when I call my brother anything other than Mark outside our house haha)

Haha! That's cute :) That glare when boys are trying to assert their grown-up-ness is adorable.

I wonder if it was the sort of thing where her parents named her after a male relative named Mark. It's how I ended up with a female cousin named Fr@nki. She was named after her grandfather, Frank, but my aunt and uncle didn't think that Frank was a stylish enough name to give to a boy, so Fr@nki's twin was named Daniel.
