Middle name for Leo?
Hi there, we're expecting #2 in September. Our first is named Daphne Cecelia. We had Leo picked out if she had been a boy, and we were going to use:
Leo Sebastian or
Leo Sheppard (no meaning, just liked how it sounded)
However, I don't love these middle names as much as I used to. Any other suggestions? Bear in mind our last name starts with G and is one syllable.
So I would like to avoid names that start with A, E, O or U.
Thank you in advance!

I have always liked your option of Leo Sheppard (I remember it from when you were pregnant with Daphne). Leo Sebastian is lovely too. I don't think you can go wrong with either.
If you are after some other suggestions though, how about:
Leo Xavier
Leo Hamish
Leo Fletcher
Leo Caspian
Leo Cormac
Leo Theodore
Leo Nathaniel
Leo Wesley
Leo Dashiell
Leo Beckett
Leo Solomon
I definitely prefer the 2 and 3 syllable names for middles here. I also have avoided G names and those starting with vowels or ending in O. Anything take your fancy?
Wow, I can't believe you remember from way back then! :)
Hm, I like Leo Xavier. Not a huge fan of the others...... I would prefer a sort of traditional/normal sounding middle name, which is why I'm not sold on Sheppard because that's more of a "last names first" name.
Thanks!
Ok, so I think you are looking more along the lines of Sebastian/Xavier than the others.
Leo Henry
Leo William
Leo Noah
Leo Maximillian
Leo Benedict
Leo Jasper
Leo Jude
Are any of those more on track? I think something like Benjamin, Nicholas, Thomas, Jonathan etc could work. It's just a matter of whether you want to use a more common middle name or something a bit less expected.
Yes I know, I'm being kind of difficult! I think you're right, I am looking for something a bit "less expected", like Sebastian. Names like Thomas, Robert, David, all these names sound too boring to me... like you would only be using them if they were the father's/grandfather's name or something.
I'd love to use a name that I LOVE that I would never actually consider using. I really do like Julian. I also love Isaac, but maybe too much. If we happen to have a third and it's a boy, I want to keep Isaac for a first name just in case. William is a good one, my husband likes that as a first name.
We're driving up to the cottage tomorrow (3 hours) so I'm sure I'll force the middle-name convo on DH at some point and get back to you :)
Thank you!
You aren't being difficult! Sometimes knowing what you don't want gets you closer to figuring out what you do want :)
See, you kind of already know now that you don't want 'standard' middle names. You don't want surnamey type names (since you like Sheppard but aren't sold on it). You seem to prefer longer middle names for flow. Not starting with a vowel.
Sebastian, Xavier, Isaac, Julian, Vincent all kind of seem like they belong in a similar category. Well-known boys names with flair maybe? A slightly European vibe? I'm not sure exactly the best way to describe it but I'm sure others will have a better description.
Hopefully once you toss around some ideas with your husband and have a clearer idea of what you like I might be able to think of some more.
Leo Julian
Leo Simon
Leo Dominic
Leo James
Leo Vincent
Leo Peter
Any of these strike you?
I like Leo Julian and Leo Vincent!
