Name change

I’m being adopted, and got the opportunity to change my name. My last name will be Bell-Doehler. My siblings are named Cade, Elijah(goes by Eli), Ethan, Brooke, Zara, and Emma. We are a blended family, so our name’s don’t go perfectly. I want my name to match my appearance (I’ve always felt like I don’t look like an Avery). i have wavy medium blonde hair with reddish undertones, deepset bright blue-green eyes, long eyelashes (they naturally reach almost to my eyebrows), a thin nose, the bridge of which has a slight bump, small, thin, red lips, and freckles across my nose & cheek. I’m small for 14, 5’2 & less than 90 lbs. My interests are art, theatre, dance, singing, special effects makeup art, music, and pretty much any art form. Some name’s I like are:

Everleigh Monroe

Emberly Lakelynn

Zinnia Jade

Zoe Claire

Penelope Michelle

Taytum Oaklee

I am completely open to suggestion!!

You admitted months ago that this is all fake.

Why, just why, do you continue?  Is it still fun when you know full well you're not fooling anybody?

Your posts have become extremely tiresome.  If you want thoughts on names, just ask about them.  There's no need to make up a different backstory each time.

I admitted that I am a teenager, and that I do not have children of my own. I am, in fact, being adopted by my foster parents. I’ve never said anything about my foster family because of the reasons why I’m here. I’m deeply sorry if I broke your trust with my previous stories. Can we just move past my mistake?

I'd go with Zoe claire or Jade as a first name

For some reason I can't see you as a Penelope unless you were thinking of some cool nickname with it.  I also wonder about why you don't feel like an Avery - would you prefer something more feminine? If so then Taytum/Tatum might not be for you either.  However if this comment makes you feel disappointed then maybe those names are for you after all.

I would be leaning towards using Everleigh or Emberly (or Amberly?) as they're quite similar to Avery and would be easier for your family & friends to adjust to using a new name for you.  Personally I prefer Jade as the middle name with both names, but then maybe that would be too close to Avery Grace for your liking.  I like Zoe Claire too.

FWIW, although I don't usually comment, I like your posts, you remind me of my daughter (and me at the same age too).  You don't mention if you're interested in writing, but I think you'd be good at it.  Maybe one day we can help you choose a pen-name or a stage-name too.

I really like Amberly! I love writing and I’m currently working on writing a novel, I’m about 12 pages in. Thanks for the suggestion.

All of these A names sound a little dated (although I've never seen that spelling of Ashley before). I'm in my early 30's and grew up with people with those names.

Zinnia is fantastic and familiar but underused in my opinion.  I've only recently considered Monroe as a name but I think Zinnia Monroe is lovely.  Zoe Claire doesn't fit my personal style but the names go really nicely together and I think that would also be a fantastic choice.

I, too, was adopted as a teenager by my foster parents---congratulations!

Congrats on your adoption!

I also changed my name, in my case because of a gender transition. My advice would be to spend some time with each of these names. Try it out (in private, at coffeeshops) and see if it feels like you. Practice signing it. Research the background and meaning. Look on facebook to see pictures of people with these names.

My favorite on your list is Zinnia Jade, but I think my opinion matters less than what you identify with.

Some more thoughts on your list... Everleigh and Emberly would both give you an E initial that goes with 3 of your siblings. Both are longer names that seem more modern/"made up" from the building blocks of other popular names.

Zoe and Penelope are both Greek in origin. Zoe and Zinnia would both give you a Z that goes with Zara. Zoe is much more popular right now.

Taytum is the most gender-neutral on your list and is another modern name.
